Why Japan

MRI density data,
with individual review.

57.4/M
MRI units per million · Japan 2020

Japan had 57.4 MRI units per million population in 2020 (Figure 5.5, OECD/WHO, Health at a Glance: Asia/Pacific 2024). This equipment-density statistic does not establish appointment availability, scheduling flexibility, repeat-examination access, clinical expertise, or outcomes.

CASEPERSON
individual suitability

MRI suitability, body area, contrast use, and timing are reviewed for each person. Equipment density alone cannot answer these questions.

MDCONTEXT
physician interpretation

Imaging findings are interpreted with symptoms, history, and prior tests. Imaging alone does not finalize a diagnosis or treatment plan.

Imaging scope, appointment availability, and result-review timing are confirmed case by case before travel.

For Whom

For those who read
their body in data.

Symptoms can be hard to interpret from memory alone. Imaging can create a baseline for preventive review, helping you and the physician decide what should be followed, repeated, or referred.

Health-conscious individuals aged 40+

Annual baseline recommended even without symptoms.

Family history of cancer or cerebrovascular disease

Tracking genetic risk via imaging. Recommended regardless of age.

International patients planning annual visits to Japan

Multi-day screening and result-review planning can be arranged when needed.

People unsure which test should come first

We help organize whether imaging, blood tests, or specialist consultation should be prioritized.

FAQ

On MRI examinations.

Why undergo MRI in Japan?

chevron_right

Japan's MRI equipment density is described in the sourced data block above. That national statistic does not show whether a particular appointment, repeat examination, or short-stay schedule is available.

Share the requested body area, prior images, medical devices, and travel dates before booking travel. The imaging institution confirms examination availability and timing case by case; CFO then organizes the physician-review step where appropriate.

Is Japanese health insurance applicable?

chevron_right
Preventive imaging without specific symptoms (health check-up equivalent) is self-pay. For patients with clear symptoms or diagnostic objectives, insurance coverage may apply — please discuss during pre-consultation.

How often should I be examined?

chevron_right
The appropriate timing depends on symptoms, prior findings, family history, medications, and the reason for review. If repeated follow-up is being considered, the schedule should be discussed with a physician.

Is there radiation exposure?

chevron_right
MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves and does not use ionizing radiation. Metal implants, implanted devices, pregnancy possibility, contrast use, and claustrophobia should be checked before scheduling.

When will I receive results?

chevron_right
Following board-certified radiologist reading, reports are typically complete within 7–10 days. Consultation is available in person or online (Zoom for Healthcare). English-language reports are available for international patients.

What support is available for international patients?

chevron_right
For international patients, you can share prior records, preferred dates, language needs, and available stay length before travel. We then help organize the examination and result-review flow. Stay-related questions can be routed to an appropriate coordinator after scope is confirmed.

Is AI-based image diagnosis used?

chevron_right
In addition to specialist reading, we plan to operate dual reading with AI analysis. This enhances detection sensitivity for subtle findings while minimizing reading error.
